An antimicrobial ceramic glazing composition, comprising: a ceramic glaze base adapted to be fired at a firing temperature of from at least about 1062° C; and an antimicrobial composition including: a first antimicrobial metal compound consisting of Bi2O3; a second antimicrobial metal compound consisting of ZnO; and a third antimicrobial metal compound consisting of Ag2CO3; wherein the first antimicrobial metal compound, the second antimicrobial metal compound and the third antimicrobial metal compound each have a concentration in the ceramic glaze composition of about two percent; and wherein the glazing composition is adapted to possess an antimicrobial property after a conventional firing process at the firing temperature. | ||
