<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polymer compound which is high in proton conduction and suitable for a polymeric electrolyte for a fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer comprises a repeating unit represented by formula (1) [wherein m is an integer of 1-3, n is an integer of 1-6, M is hydrogen, an alkali metal or ammonium, R is H, SO<SB>3</SB>H, F, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy group, A is a direct bond or a bivalent group of formula (4), (5) or (6), and B is a direct bond of a group of formula (7) or (8) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently H, a lower alkyl group or a lower fluoroalkyl group; #means bonding to the benzene ring of formula (1); L is a direct bond, O or S; m is the same as described above; m<SP>1</SP>and m<SP>2</SP>are each an integer and summed to be an integer of 1-3; * means bonding to -SO<SP>-</SP><SB>3</SB>M<SP>+</SP>; and a benzene ring may be optionally substituted)]. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
