<p>1364992 Liquid-propellant gun GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 20 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971] 48412/72 Heading F3C [Also in Division F2] In a liquid-propellant gun having a high rate of fire a separate valve assembly 10 controls the flow of each of two propellant fluids from a separate supply chamber 12 pressurized by a piston (60) and supplied by a valve (56) to a utilization chamber 14 connected to one of four firing chambers (54) having a firing electrode (74). Each valve assembly comprises a conical plug 32 which is biased to a closed position in a conical bore 33 by a spring 48 and is movable into the blind-end bore 40 of a sleeve 22 when the pressure rises in chamber 12 so that fluid passes from chamber 12 into chamber 14. Bolt (36) closes off the communication between chamber 14 and the firing chamber prior to ignition. Projectiles are fed to the firing chamber (54) by sprockets (64), (66), feed ring (68) and scoop ring (70).</p> |
