The method for seating dowel bodies (14) consisting of elastic foam material which can be solidified. The dowel body (14) has a central hole (15) which is closed towards the end on the seating-direction side, is stretched in the axial direction with the aid of a seating tool consisting of a plunger (21) and a guide piece (22), and in consequence has its cross-section reduced. In the extended state, the dowel body (14) can thus be inserted into a retaining hole (31) in retaining material (30). After insertion of the dowel (10), the seating tool (20) is removed and a curing compound is injected into the dowel body (14) which deforms back. <IMAGE>
