The water cooler, in particular for an internal combustion engine, has a water box (8) and a tube plate (1) that is detachably connected to said water box by means of a latching connection (6, 12, 14), the latching connection being arranged on the end face and having latching parts (14) interacting with abutments, and the tube plate having a rim section (4 to 6) constructed in the manner of a bead-like projection. A seal (15) which is held under tension by the latching connection is arranged in the region of the rim of the water box and the tube plate. A guide device (9, 4) serves the mutual guidance of the water box and tube plate. In order to provide a water cooler with parts which are easy to produce, oppose bulging of the rim of the water box situated in the region of the tube plate, and are easy to assemble and also easy to disassemble once again, a support part (9) of the water box bears on the tube plate against the inside of the rim section projecting in the direction of the water box. The latching part (14) extends over an external wall part (6) of the rim section and grips behind a rim which serves as abutment and is connected to the tube plate. <IMAGE>
