<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety and power loss in the image forming apparatus of an inductive heating and fixing system. <P>SOLUTION: An inductive heating power source is used as a thermal fixer in the image forming apparatus. The input part of a commercial AC power source includes an input interruption means. The device includes: an input voltage detecting means; a means for detecting the temperature of a heating roller; a switching means for supplying a high frequency current to the inductive heating source; a switching driving means for driving the switching means; and a current detecting means for detecting the high frequency current. An abnormality is discriminated or detected in the input interruption means, or the switching means and the switching driving means, based on the state of an input interruption signal for controlling the intermittence of the input interruption means, the state of a heating driving control signal for controlling the operation of the switching driving means, and a case where an output from the input voltage detecting means is not less than a prescribed value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
