<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for yielding an excellent- quality image in all the image forming modes set to both of low resolution and high resolution or resolution at respective several other stages without accompanying the increase of mechanical load to the apparatus side and the complication of the contents of the control of a driving system. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus set so that the several kinds of resolution can be selected, the spot beam diameter of the light source of an optical writing means is fixed to be the same with respect to the several kinds of resolution, and the developing linear velocity of a developing means is fixed to be the same, and the frequency of the AC component of applied developing bias voltage or the peak value thereof is selected in accordance with the resolution in the developing means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
