In a conversion of analog signals (A, B) into binary signals (D), additional zero crossings of the differentiated analog signals (C) can occur in a differentiation of the analog signals (A, B) which produce unwanted additional binary signals (D). To avoid the additional zero crossings and to increase the noise immunity, the analog signals (A, B) are integrated and inverted and added to the differentiated analog signals (C). Whenever the analog signals conditioned in this manner have zero crossings, the binary signals (D) are generated from them. The method and the circuit arrangement are particularly advantageous if read signals are provided as analog signals which are generated by a magnetic read head when reading data recorded on a magnetic recording carrier. <IMAGE>
