A current rail system with fit-on adaptors which bear electrical operating means has a current rail with an insulating element which is arranged between the inner faces, facing one another, of two electrically conductive metal profiles with whose contact faces which are arranged on the outer circumference contact can be made by two contact faces, facing one another, of the adaptor, the adaptor being capable of being fitted with a clamp fit on to the current rail in a frictionally engaging fashion by means of its contact faces. In order to be able to rotate the adaptor about the current rail through an angle of 360@, the adaptor has an essentially circular, central recess through which the current rail which is of circular design on the outer circumference engages, the contact faces of the adaptor being also constructed as push elements which are spring-loaded in the radial direction. As a result, high currents can be transmitted from the current rail to the adaptor.
