A fan wheel (32) is driven via a friction coupling (34). The friction coupling (34) takes the form of a disc coupling. A spring (7) locks the friction coupling (34) via a magnetically nonconductive thrust (5), which is fixedly connected to an anchor ring (16). An electromagnet (35) is fastened to a machine casing. The electromagnet (35) is able to open the friction coupling (34) against the force of the spring (7). A regulating device (17) ensures that the friction coupling (34) is opened continuously or in small stages between an upper and a lower threshold temperature. <IMAGE>
