The quantity of thermosetting moulding material is measured out for the prodn. of a number of mouldings in one operation, in which resin (SMC) sheeting is cut in both directions, the individual sheets are laid up together into stacks and these are moulded. The resinous sheet (SMC) is cut into an even number of pieces longitudinally; the left and right hand cut sheets formed are then cross-cut and moved to form separate stacks, which, however, have previously received sheets from the other side of the longitudinal axis. ADVANTAGE - The method is a simple way of evening out any variations in the substance of the SMC across its width.
