The box-shaped piece of furniture, especially cupboard, has two laterally spaced apart, vertical sides (36) with bottom (38), top, front and back edge. The sides (36) are rigidly joined by a base-panel (40). At the front are doors (42) or drawers. A plinth frame (10) consists of two side-struts (16) parallel to the sides (36), and two transverse struts (18) joined to the side struts (16) at the corners. The side struts (16) have vertical covering arms (20) partly overlapped by the adjacent side (36), a horizontal foot-arm (22) bent towards the frame inside on the covering-arm bottom edge. A thin covering-strip (24) grips over the front and/or back ends of transverse struts (18). A straightening mechanism (12) with threaded spindle (30) and threaded sleeve (54) is operated through a hole (56) in the base-plate (40). USE/ADVANTAGE - The furniture can be exactly vertically aligned.
