A device capable of identifying the relationship between a width and a shape of an oil path and the detection accuracy and detecting oil pollution with high accuracy in an oil pollution detecting device. For this purpose, the device is provided with an oil pollution detecting set in which a light from a light emitting element (1) is passed through oil in an oil path (2) and received by a light receiving element (3), and the amount of the received light is utilized as an index of a level of an oil pollution. This set is provided with an adjusting means (4) capable of adjusting a light transmitting distance in the oil path (2). A plurality of oil pollution detecting sets may be provided.
