PURPOSE: To obtain a pile yarn for an artificial lawn, containing sand, comprising a mixed resin composition of a propylene polymer with an olefinic rubber, excellent in resistance to fibrillation and suitable for ball game sports or multipurpose grounds. CONSTITUTION: This pile yarn for an artificial lawn containing sand is obtained by sufficiently mixing 70-95wt.% propylene polymer having 0.3-9 g/10min melt flow rate and 30-5wt.% olefinic rubber having 0.1-10g/10min melt flow rate such as an ethylene-propylene copolymer in a super mixer, then feeding the resultant mixture to a single screw extruder, forming a sheet having a prescribed thickness according to an inflation method, then drawing the formed sheet through heated rolls, subsequently slitting the drawn sheet with a slitter, heat-treating and twisting the slit sheet. The resultant pile yarn has 2000-20000de size, 0.5-50mm yarn width and 30-100μm yarn thickness.
