PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a strong antibacterial composition containing synergistin. SOLUTION: This anibacerial composition contains synergistin of formula I (Y is H, dimethylamino; R is 3 or 4-quinuclidinyl) or its salt, and pristinamycin IIA or a soluble derivative of pristinamycin IIB of formula II (R1 is an alkylamino, a 1-5C alkylthio, Bet-S, etc.; Het is 3-pyrrolidinyl, etc.). When combined with the pristinamycin IIA in a ratio of 10:90% to 90:10% at a dose of 0.1-10μg/cc in vitro or 10-200 mg/kg(hypodermically) in vivo, the compound of formula I exhibits a synergistic action on the antibacterial action of the prisinamycin IIA. The composition is administered at a daily dose of 2,000-4,400 mg/adult by a parenteral administration method, especially by an intravenous or slow returning administration method.
