摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic musical instrument provided with a waveform memory that can cope with an optional read system with small capacity by storing compressed waveform sample data and thawing data for data to be read next. SOLUTION: A waveform memory built in a musical sound generating circuit is continuously stored with frames Q-Z with waveform data partitioned every specified number. Each frame is 8 bits × 8 words, each word is stored with compressed sample data T0-T6 with the musical sound waveform sample value compressed by a difference coding system, and predictive quantized data (u). This predictive quantized data (u) is thawing data required to expand the compressed waveform sample data of the frame with the possibility of being read next. The frame T, for instance, is stored with the thawing information (u) of the following frame U, and the thawing information of the frame T is stored in the preceding frame S.
