<p>The invention relates to a process for preparing an essentially anhydrous homogeneous solution of a metal glycerolate, wherein glycerol is mixed with an inorganic base and the mixture of glycerol and the base is heated for a period of from 0.5 to 10 h under a pressure of less than 20kPa to a temperature between the boiling point of glycerol at said pressure and at least 5 °C below said boiling point. The invention further relates to a homogeneous catalyst as obtained by said process. Other aspects of the invention are a process for the interesterification of a triglyceride oil by using said homogeneous catalyst and an apparatus for performing said interesterification process.</p> |
