The invention refers to a shock and vibration isolator designed mainly for bumpers and traction devices of railroad vehicles, which can also be used wherever it is necessary to control shocks and vibrations. According to the invention, the shock and vibration isolator includes, under the head of central piston (3), at least one more piston (5) provided with nozzles (d), which piston has a tubular shape and is telescoped over the body of central piston (3). At the bottom part, a crude rubber ring (13) rests on the cover (11), isolated from the hydraulic oil (12) by an annular diaphragm (14) on which the ends of above-mentioned pistons (3 and 5) can rest for the purpose of absorbing the return movement.
