The invention concerns a fax machine, operating in loading mode, comprising a transmission channel (1), including optical means for scanning a document arranged for image digitising and consequently for controlling the on-line transmission means (13), and a receiving channel (2), including means (21, 26) for restoring an image of the received document. The fax machine comprises linking means (3, 23) arranged for connecting the two channels (1, 2) and controlling the restoring means (24, 26) based on analysing means (11). The invention enables the fax machine to edit a transmission report comprising at least part of the transmitted document.
