摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance transparency, to enable the easy deposition of thick films and to improve the smoothness of surfaces in contact with oriented layers and liquid crystals by forming the oriented layers of three-dimensionally crosslinked resins. SOLUTION: The oriented layers 8 of the liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal housing cell, the liquid crystals 9 housed in this liquid crystal housing cell, the oriented layers 8 arranged for the liquid crystals 9 and driving means for the liquid crystals 9 are the three-dimensionally crosslinked resins. In such a case, the thickness of the oriented layers 8 is preferably 0.3 to 5μm. Such oriented layers 8 may be imparted with liquid crystal orientability by rubbing. At the time of producing such liquid crystal display device, the oriented layers 8 are subjected to a rubbing treatment in order to impart the liquid crystal orientability to their surfaces after the oriented layers are formed. The rubbing treatment is the treatment to wind velvet-like rubbing cloth of, for example, nylon, rayon, etc., on a roller and rubbing the layer in such a manner that the surface of the rotating roller and the surface of an over-coating layer(OC) 4 come into contact with each other. The orientation of the liquid crystal molecules is obtd. in such a manner.
