An installation for more efficient removal of solid or gaseous contaminants especially from flue-gas placed between a combustion unit (1) and the stack (4) comprises a wet scrubber (2) of known construction, a solution concentrating and/or drying unit (3) and an optional device (10) for separation of solids from liquid effluents. It is a novel feature of this process, that the whole or part of the waste effluent emerging from the scrubber, and/or the solids content of the contaminated scrubbing liquid is concentrated and/or dried in the concentrating/solidifying unit (3) by direct contact with hot gases to be purified. Liquids are preferably sprayed during contact. Separating or crystallising solids are deposited and the water vapour-rich gaseous phase is passed to the wet scrubber for cleaning. |
