The pull chord window raiser has a motorized drive (1) for raising and lowering a window that acts on a rotatable cable drum (5) and reels in and out two connected cable runs (3,4) of a pull cable (2). A clamp protection arrangement stops and reverses the motor if the window encounters and obstruction when closing. A spring element (12) arranged in the cable run to which tension is applied during closing has a spring constant so that at least part of a spring displacement reserve is retained during closing with no obstruction and is used if an obstruction is encountered.
