PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disc apparatus that can start again the reproducing operation which has been executed immediately before the attitude change after the change of setting of the servo characteristic on the occasion of setting, to an optical disc, the servo characteristic of drive for servo drive of rotation/ focusing/tracking depending on the change of preset attitude of the apparatus cabinet. SOLUTION: In this optical disc apparatus, a microcomputer 12 is provided to compositely control the apparatus as a whole, a display 3 is connected and, moreover, an inclination sensor 5 is also connected. The inclination sensor 5 detects the preset attitude of the apparatus cabinet is in the vertical attitude or lateral attitude. The microcomputer 12 is connected with a servo circuit 6 to control the rotation drive of motor 7 where the disc D is fixed to be removable to the output shaft and the focus and tracking drive to optically read the pit information formed on the recording surface of the disc D. A preset circuit 13 sets the servo characteristic of the servo circuit 5 for various servo drives to the first setting characteristic 13a and second setting characteristic 13b.
