<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet which shows superb image permeation density and is best-suited for use, for example, in appreciating an image by a transmitting light of an illuminated signboard or the like, with a controlling effect upon the generation of an image irregularities. <P>SOLUTION: This sheet for ink jet recording has a base material and an ink receiving layer formed on at least one of the sides of the base material. The ink receiving layer contains a nonionic surfactant having an acetylene bond and a silica particle having a peak in the 1 to 5 μm particle diameter range and the 5 to 15 μm particle diameter range of grain size distribution.
