MEMBRANE/ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY AND POLYMER ELECTROLYTE FUEL CELL USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane/electrode assembly having a porous substrate for a gas diffusing layer excellent in capabilities of diffusing a reaction gas and removing water generated by reactions.

SOLUTION: The membrane/electrode assembly comprises: a hydrogen ion conductive polymer electrolyte membrane 1; and a pair of electrodes sandwiching the polymer electrolyte membrane and having gas diffusing layers made up of porous substrates 10a, 10b, and catalyst layers. Each of the porous substrates has a pore distribution having at least two centers of distribution.
