A hermetic compressor is provided to prevent abrasion of a rotary shaft or interference to a rotary motion of the rotary shaft by preventing an inside diameter of each thrust washer from contacting with an external diameter of the rotary shaft, thereby improving the reliability of a hermetic compressor. A frame(12) has a hollow part. A rotary shaft(14) is rotatively installed in the hollow part. An eccentric part is formed at a top end of the rotary shaft on the upper part side of the hollow part. Upper and lower thrust washers(31,32) are installed at the outside of the rotary shaft between the eccentric part and the frame for supporting the rotary shaft in an axial direction. A thrust bearing(30) includes balls(33) interposed between the upper and lower thrust washers. Inside diameters of the upper and lower thrust washers maintain a state of being separated from an external diameter of the rotary shaft.
