The method involves having four sensor elements (S1 - S4). The first and second sensor elements are switched into row as the first group (G1) and the third and fourth are switched into a row as the second group (G2). The sensor elements of a group (G1, G2) are on a line (2, 3) and the groups (G1, G2) are arranged in a right angle to each other. The tension (-U1, U2, U3, U4) over the sensor elements is measured. In the case of a deviation of the tension within a group a maximum deviation is provided and an error of the sensor elements provided. An independent claim is included for a circuit.
