PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve foreign matter embedding performance, in its turn, to improve non-seizure performance. SOLUTION: This sliding bearing is formed by arranging a covering layer 6 on a surface of a bearing alloy 2 constituting a base material. The covering layer 6 comprises a compounded area part 5 of making a resin area part 3 and a soft metal area part 4 coexist when viewed from a surface on the sliding surface side. The soft metal area part 4 is an area mainly composed of soft metal, and is softer than the resin area part 3, and is superior in the foreign matter embedding performance. Since such the soft metal area part 4 and the resin area part 3 coexist when viewed from the surface, the foreign matter embedding performance can be improved more than only the resin area part 3, and in its turn, the non-seizure performance can be improved.
