PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit a base metal from depositing in a sub-lance and thereby prevent the production efficiency from lowering. SOLUTION: This blowing method is a method of blowing oxygen while measuring a temperature/composition of an iron bath which is being blown, with the use of the sub-lance. The sub-lance is installed so that an angleθcan be 10 degrees or larger, which is formed by a line L1 projected on the surface of an iron bath from a line that connects the central axis of a main lance 2 to the center of an oxygen-blowing nozzle hole 2a of the main lance 2, and a line L2 projected on the surface of an iron bath from a line that connects the center of the oxygen-blowing nozzle hole 2a of the main lance 2 to the central axis of the sub-lance 3 in the immersed position. The blowing method does not decrease a flowing rate of oxygen in the main lance 2 even when the temperature/composition is measured through the sub-lance 3 in the blowing step. The blowing method can reduce the amount of the base metal depositing in the sub-lance without lowering the flowing rate of oxygen in the main lance even when the sub-lance is used, and can also inhibit a production pitch from decreasing.
