<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline secondary battery with excellent charging/ discharging cycle life characteristics and also with high rate discharging characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The battery has a negative pole including a hydrogen occlusion alloy as a main component which is expressed in the following expressions: LnNi<SB>(a-x-y-z)</SB>Co<SB>x</SB>Ca<SB>y</SB>M<SB>z</SB>(where Ln represents lanthanoid, M represents at least one kind selected among a series of Mn, Al, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, Fe, Ga, Zn, Sn, In, Cu, Si, P and B, and a, x, y, z represent respectively numbers satisfying each relation 5.1≤a≤5.6, 0.5≤x≤0.9, 0.01≤y≤0.10, 0.4≤z≤0.8). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
