PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a support base for chairs which achieves a sufficient strength along with a higher construction efficiency by enabling the mounting of parts not only from above but also from below and ahead of it. SOLUTION: The support base is provided with a base part 13a mounted at the upper end of a leg and a support base frame 13 which protrudes ahead of both sides at the front end of the base part while having a pair of left and right arms 13c and 13c with a bent rim 13b so formed on each periphery part as to be turned inward. Reinforcing plates 17 are fastened respectively on the internal surfaces of the arms 13c and horizontally turning bearing cylinders 18 are mounted on the reinforcing plates and the arms respectively and a pivot 5 turning together with a backrest is pivoted by the left and right bearing cylinders. An energizing means 19 is disposed between both the arm parts to energize the pivot 5 in the direction of getting the backrest erected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
