PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent collision of a recording medium and a head slider as much as possible by obstructing drop of the head slider. SOLUTION: When impact is detected by an impact sensor 31, pressing force of an elastic pressing member 24 is strengthened by operation of a pressing force change mechanism 26. The head slider 25 is pressed to a magnetic disk 13 with large pressing force. The head slider 25 continues to contact the magnetic disk 13 independently of operation of impact. Jump of the head slider is obstructed. Collision of the head slider 25 and the magnetic disk 13 is evaded. Moreover, the head slider 25 is pressed to the surface of the magnetic disk 13 during standstill of the magnetic disk 13. Drop of the head slider 25 is evaded. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
