PURPOSE: An AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) Rijndael round key generation circuit is provided to generate the round key by using an operating mode, a key size, and a key counter. CONSTITUTION: An AES Rijndael round key generation circuit having a structure of module including an on-line calculation function of a round key includes the first key register(1), the second key register(2), a control portion(5), a round key generation portion(4), and a start key selection circuit(3). The first key register(1) is used for storing key values of 128 bits, 192bits, and 256bits. The second key register(2) is used for storing the first round key in a decoding process. The control portion(5) generates a control signal by using an operating mode, a start signal, and the key size information. The round key generation portion(4) generates the round key for performing an encoding process and the decoding process by using an on-line calculation method. The start key selection circuit(3) is used for selecting a value of the first start key in the encoding process and the decoding process. The AES Rijndael round key generation circuit generates the round key for the length of three keys to a single clock by using two round key expansion modules.
