PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb the deformation of an upper caused by the expansion of a swell part of a foot and absorb the deformation of the upper caused by the vertical movement near the Lisfranc joint of the foot when a shoe is landed. SOLUTION: This upper structure of shoe is provided with: a first low-rigidity area 10 extending into a belt shape along the Lisfranc joint of the foot in the outer instep side of the upper body 3 of the shoe, having the upper end facing a fore and aft directional opening part 3b of the instep part of the upper body 3 and the lower end extending to the vicinity of the lower end of the upper body 3 and having the rigidity lower than that of the peripheral area; and a second low-rigidity area 11 extending into a belt shape from a position immediately under the ankle of a wearer in a wearing opening 3a of the upper body 3 to a position in the vicinity of the front end part C<SB>A</SB><SP>'</SP>of the calcaneal bone of the foot in the outer instep side of the upper body 3, having the lower end connected to the lower end of the first low-rigidity area 10 and having the rigidity lower than that of the peripheral area.
