Method for determination of acid number of oil includes sampling and placement of sample in transparent for chosen spectral range cuvette. One measures spectral coefficients of oil sample transmission in pre-chosen spectral ranges. One registers radiation passed through oil sample. With account of pre-determined values of color of oil sample by Lovibond scale one forms scale of measurement of acid number of oil in milligrams of sodium hydroxide needed for neutralization of sum of free fat acids and other accompanying triglycerides substances present in one gram of oil.
