PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver circuit having a shift register circuit with clock stoppage whose blanking period is short.

SOLUTION: This driver circuit is the source driver circuit of a matrix type display device. The source driver is provided with a latch circuit for latching display data by the rising of a fundamental clock and a shift register with clock stoppage and only the shift register of the first stage is provided with a circuit which does not output shift register output but outputs a start pulse whose length is adjusted to a length equivalent to two clocks of the fundamental clock.
