1. A method comprising:
providing a mesh to represent a faulted geological structure in a subterranean formation of a field; identifying an interface separating a plurality of conformable sequences in the faulted geological structure; interpolating, by a computer processor and in a first iteration, a first implicit function defined with respect to the mesh to provide values for the first implicit function, wherein the values comprise at least a first iso-value corresponding to the interface; dividing, based at least on the first iso-value, the mesh into at least a first sub-mesh and a second sub-mesh, wherein each of the first sub-mesh and the second sub-mesh comprises at least one of the plurality of conformable sequences; interpolating, by the computer processor and in a second iteration, a second implicit function, wherein the extent of interpolating the second implicit function is restricted to within one of the first sub-mesh and the second sub-mesh; extracting, from the first implicit function and the second implicit function, a surface corresponding to the interface; creating a model based at least on the surface; and performing exploration of natural resources in the subterranean formation using the model. |
