<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet with satisfactory surface smoothness and a feeling of gloss. <P>SOLUTION: This ink jet recording sheet comprises a coloring material receiving layer formed on a support with a thermoplastic resin layer formed on a paper base. The paper base is constituted of a component composed mainly of a kraft pulp consisting of an acacia.
