NEWEL STRUCTURE OF THE ESCALATOR

The present invention relates to a newel structure of an escalator, allowing an easier inspection with eyes to check an accumulation of wastes inside of the newel structure on upper and lower sides of a curved part exposed to an extensive friction, during repair and maintenance of the escalator. As such, the cost and the time for the repair and the maintenance are reduced by allowing easier inspection and removal of wastes, to improve safety and convenience for users. According to the present invention, the newel structure comprises: partition wall parts vertically installed on both sides of an escalator; a frame part horizontally installed on one end of the partition wall part, with one side opened; a frame groove formed on a lower end of the frame part to drain wastes; a newel roller unit installed inside the frame part; and a handrail unit to cover the frame unit as being integrated to the frame part.
