<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output in a toner saving mode by detecting the residual quantity of toner and automatically selecting the toner saving mode when the residual quantity becomes small whereas copying and printing are impossible when there is no toner in a conventional manner. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a toner residue quantity detecting means, a means to carry out the toner saving mode are provided and whether or not to transit to the toner saving mode is judged according to the residual toner quantity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
