PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a portion of a document by translating the portion of the document while sequentially displaying images of a plurality of sheets of the document.SOLUTION: A document reader includes: a document display control part 13 for displaying respective image data of a plurality of pages obtained by causing a document read part to continuously read a document of a plurality of pages and output the document in each first period; a position detection part 71 for detecting a position instructed by a user in image data of a displayed page; a character area determination part 15 for determining one or more character areas representing characters from the image data of the displayed page; a character recognition part 17 for performing character recognition of a part of the character area including the position detected by the position detection part 71 from the one or more character areas in the image data of the displayed page; a translation part 23 for translating a character string undergoing character recognition into a prescribed language; and a relation display control part 27 for displaying the character string of the translated language in association with the image data of the displayed page.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
