PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for following up the communication speed of a partner communication apparatus, even if the communication speed changes over a wide range.SOLUTION: In a serial communication apparatus for receiving the received data having a break character consisting of a predetermined number of continuous L pulses and a sink character including a synchronous bit of 2bits continuous to the break character, and updating the speed of a synchronous clock, the period of a break character is compared with the estimate of the period of a break character estimated from the average 1 pulse period obtained from the synchronous bit of a sink character. If the period of a break character is equal to the estimate or more, speed of the synchronous clock is updated based on the average 1 pulse period. |
