A photographing optical lens system includes, in order from an object side to an image side, a first lens element, a second lens element, a third lens element, a fourth lens element, a fifth lens element, a sixth lens element, a seventh lens element and an eighth lens element. The second lens element has positive refractive power. The eighth lens element has an image-side surface being concave in a paraxial region thereof, wherein the image-side surface of the eighth lens element has at least one convex shape in an off-axis region thereof, and both an object-side surface and the image-side surface thereof are aspheric. The photographing optical lens system has a total of eight lens elements. An air gap in a paraxial region is located between every two lens elements of the photographing optical lens system that are adjacent to each other. |

1. A photographing optical lens system comprising, in order from an object side to an image side:
a first lens element; a second lens element having positive refractive power; a third lens element; a fourth lens element; a fifth lens element; a sixth lens element; a seventh lens element; and an eighth lens element having an image-side surface being concave in a paraxial region thereof, wherein the image-side of the eighth lens element has at least one convex shape in an off-axis region thereof, and both an object-side surface and the image-side surface of the eighth lens element are aspheric; wherein the photographing optical lens system has a total of eight lens elements; there is an air gap in a paraxial region between every two of the lens elements that are adjacent to each other; wherein an axial distance between an object-side surface of the first lens element and the image-side surface of the eighth lens element is Td, a focal length of the photographing optical lens system is f, a vertical distance between a non-axial critical point on the image-side surface of the eighth lens element and an optical axis is Yc82, and the following conditions are satisfied:
Td/f<2.0; and0.10<Yc82/f<0.80. |
