<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize both of protection of contents by backup and prevention of illicit copying in an apparatus such as a home server. <P>SOLUTION: When backup data stored in a first storage medium (for example, a backup HDD) are duplicated in a second storage medium (a system HDD, for example) inside a storage device, duplication is allowed according to an instruction signal from the outside such as a server. For example, consistency between the backup HDD and the storage device (whether the restoring storage device is the storage device performing backup or not) is checked according to the instruction signal, and if consistency is given, restoration is allowed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
