An overproduction of IgE by the body produces allergic and inflammatory manifestations. The polysaccharide extracted from Gnidia kraussiana stops IgE production while stimulating synthesis of the beneficial customary immunoglobulins. Senegenin inhibits blast transformation of the lymphocyte clone responsible for the excessive manufacture of IgE. These two plant molecules hence act synergistically in the treatment of allergies, especially those of type I.
