<p>In a process for the removal of mercury from sulphuric acid by treatment with divided metallic copper, the waste sulphuric acid is treated, in order to remove the mercury therefrom virtually completely with dendritic copper powder having a bulk density of about 0.9 to about 2.0 g/cm<3>, and the mercury-containing cement-like material is separated off. The treatment is carried out at a temperature of 30 to 85 DEG C.</p> |
