<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact self-balanced fluorescent lamp L, which prevents a lighting device 4 housed inside a cover body 1 from being heat-affected, even if a narrow tube of a fluorescent lamp 3 is inserted into an insertion hole 4d formed in a circuit board 4a. <P>SOLUTION: The base 1a side, in which the lighting device 4 is housed with the circuit board 4a, and the fluorescent lamp 2 side are heat-shielded with each other by a heat screen means 7, even if the insertion hole 4d is formed in the circuit board 4a. Heat from a globe 5 forming an enclosed space is prevented from flowing into the inside of a cover body 1 much enough to heat- affect the lighting device. Even if the bulb type fluorescent lamp L lights with the base 1a side upward, the lighting device 4 is not heat-affected.
