<p>In one embodiment the invention comprises a container (19) suitable for retaining a liquid at least to a predetermined level, a combustion chamber (3) positioned within the container (19) so that all of the outer region of the combustion chamber (3) is in contact with the liquid, fluid supplying means (8, 10) operable to supply a combustible fluid to the combustion chamber, oxidizing fluid supply means (9, 10) operable to the supply an oxidizing fluid to the combustion chamber (3) so that the combustible fluid can be burned, exhausting means (6, 13) communicating with the combustion chamber and comprising a plurality of openings (14) positioned to communicate with water within the container. This arrangement allows the burning of the combustible fluid in the combustion chamber (3) to heat the walls of the combustion chamber which in turn heats the liquid and the hot combustion gases move from the combustion chamber (3) through the exhausting means (6, 13) through the openings (14) into the liquid.</p> |
