PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst suppressing the corrosion of an apparatus and ensuring improved nucleophilic property of copper and to stably produce carbonic diester using the catalyst with high selectivity in a high yield for a long time. CONSTITUTION:Alcohol, carbon monoxide and oxygen are brought into a reaction using a catalyst obtd. by carrying copper oxide as a primary component and oxide of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal as a secondary component on a carrier to produce the objective carbonic diester. Since this catalyst has high activity and no corrosiveness, the carbonic diester is produced in a high yield without using an apparatus made of a high quality material. |
