PURPOSE:To obtain a high density MgIn2O4-based sintered compact by sintering a mixture of In2O3 powder having a specified BET specific surface area with powder contg. an Mg compd. or only MgIn2O4-based powder having a prescribed BET specific surface area. CONSTITUTION:When the objective high density MgIn2O4-based sintered compact is produced, In2O3 powder having >=15m<2>/g BET specific surface area and powder contg. an Mg compd. convertible into oxide by heating, e.g. 4MgCO3Mg(OH)2.3H2O are weighed so as to obtain a prescribed compsn. and they are wet-mixed with an ethanol solvent by means of a ball mill to prepare a slurry. This slurry is dried and calcined at about 300-1,400 deg.C, especially about 800-1,000 deg.C, a binder such as PVA is added to the calcined body and they are granulated and press-compacted. The resultant compact is fired at about <=1,500 deg.C, especially about 1,300-1,450 deg.C. In other way, MgIn2O4-based powder having >=1mp/g BET specific surface area is calcined at about 1,200-1,500 deg.C, pulverized, compacted and fired at about 1,300-1,500 deg.C. |
